NEW EVANSVILLE, IN PROJECTS
Evansville Energy Nucleus
The Nucleus is a collaborative effort between our team and the University of Evansville’s Center for Innovation & Change. We envision Evansville as the center of the future energy economy in the Southwest Indiana region. As part of the project, we have highlighted specific resources for manufacturers and their employees considering a move to the region.
With Evansville’s blend of manufacturing infrastructure, incentives, expertise, and innovation power of students, the Nucleus will be an asset for Executive teams of relocating or expanding companies. It will also serve as an additional resource for our regional economic development teams.
In November 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy announced 13 Phase One winners of the inaugural ‘Manufacture of Advanced Key Energy Infrastructure Technologies’ (MAKE IT) Prize Strategies Track. We are proud to be included among the Phase One winners. Now, our team is preparing a credible road map to support clean energy manufacturing activity, with a particular focus on how it can be beneficial to residents in the Evansville Promise Neighborhood and other underserved communities.
Introducing Technology Transfer
In our new Impactt program, students investigate the roles of climate-focused technology. Participants are encouraged to explore building an impact venture with a technology component.
Beginning in early 2024, Indiana Impactt program students will identify, research, and analyze technology inventions and patents available for license through universities and U.S. federal agencies.
The thorough process of technology transfer will be investigated, including ways it can help impact ventures scale, enhance economic growth, and advance scientific research.
Our 2022 and 2023 Successes
2022 started with a very unique project in partnership with The Honnold Foundation. The Foundation believes that energy should be easy to access, affordable, and have a low impact on the natural world.
Our teams collaborated on a Spring fundraising effort for the Foundation. Circular donated a commissioned piece of artwork from Sheridan artist Polly Burge, which featured her unique Grand Tetons artwork on an end-of-life solar panel. The panel was the centerpiece of a fundraising drive that raised over $6,500.00 for equitable solar access.
In March of 2022, we moved into a permanent studio space in downtown Sheridan, WY, where we hosted artwork displays, held classes and events for Sheridan youth, and worked on several new projects.
In August, we began working on our final project of the year - the “Youth Arts Entrepreneurship in the Circular Economy” program. This seven-week course introduced the circular economy and its relationship to visual arts to nine Sheridan youth artists ages 13-19.
We explored multiple unique art forms created through circular principles and methods and provided an initial foundation to entrepreneurship in the arts.
The program was led by Wyoming artist Ashley Cooper and Circular team members Logan Jenkins and Rachael Esh. Very special thanks to the Wyoming Arts Council for their grant support of this initial cohort.
