Youth Arts Entrepreneurship

Visual Arts Meet the Circular Economy

The first cohort of students in our “Youth Arts Entrepreneurship in the Circular Economy” program began October 5th, 2022. Nine students attended class for seven weeks, including a showcase on November 16.

The program was led by Sheridan, WY artist Ashley Cooper. As an art teacher at Sheridan High School for the past six years, she is passionate about helping her students realize their own worth and value.

Multiple team and community members facilitated specific aspects of the program. We began with an introduction to the principles of the circular economy and explored various art forms that can be created based on those principles. We had demonstrations pertaining to pigment creation, unique and creative media, and planning of their pieces.

The program had a specific focus on the marketability of each student's unique showcase piece and the potential sale of their created artwork. Additionally, we we explored methods they could incorporate to create additional unique pieces and market them to a broader audience.
